Draft Regional Land Transport Plan 2021-2027 Review

The Northland Regional Transport Committee (RTC) urges Northlanders to have their say on the review of the Draft Regional Land Transport Plan 2021/2027 - Three Year Review (RLTP).
The RLTP, which is the region’s application for funding assistance from central government for its transport infrastructure and services, is compiled every six years and reviewed at the three-year point to ensure it aligns with current transport priorities.

The Maritime Union of New Zealand says pressure is mounting on the Government to provide leadership on the Cook Strait ferries.
One year ago, then National Party opposition Transport Spokesperson Simeon Brown described the Cook Strait ferries as the “the biggest pothole on State Highway 1” after multiple technical problems with ageing ships.
In August 2023, he then described the current ferries as causing “significant safety concerns.”

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is advising motorists in south Auckland to plan ahead due to a 4 week closure of the State Highway 1 (SH1) Papakura northbound off-ramp from Monday 19 February.
A signposted detour between the Drury interchange northbound off-ramp and Papakura interchange will be in place on Great South Road and Beach Road.
