TSL reform and new Freight Plan

This week we completed our submission to the Transport and Infrastructure Committee on the Regulatory Systems (Transport) Amendment Bill.

The Bill covers a number of relatively straightforward issues. Of most interest are proposed changes to strengthen the transport service license (TSL) regime, and a change to allow NZTA to close sections of State Highway without needing Police involvement.

In a first for New Zealand rugby, traditional jerseys have been modified to carry a road safety message – with traditional rugby stripes turned into seatbelts to encourage people to buckle up for those they love.

East Auckland’s Long-Awaited Flyover Now Open To Traffic

A black Jeep SUV was the lucky first car to drive over the new 600m flyover set to make East Aucklanders daily journeys easier. 

Delivered five months ahead of schedule and more than $4m under budget, Rā Hihi – flyover, also known locally as the Reeves Road flyover, directly links Pakūranga Road to Pakūranga Highway in East Auckland.

KiwiRail achieves operating surplus of $111m in year of significant challenges

KiwiRail’s FY25 results reflect a year in which the State-Owned Enterprise delivered on its operating surplus target, grew its freight volumes, saw substantial improvement in freight customer satisfaction, retained operating margin and banked significant savings from the first full year of its change programme, despite economic headwinds and other challenges.

New Chatham Islands ship confirmed

The joint venture of McCallum Bros Ltd and Nova Marine Carriers SA (MBL JV) will supply a new 78 metre ship, designed to service the bespoke needs of the Chatham Islands community, Associate Transport Minister James Meager says.
