Rhino Guards’ Recycled Mudguard with confirmed 76% Lower Carbon Footprint
Posted: 30-Oct-2025 |

Rhino Guards has announced that its PL12063 recycled plastic mudguard has achieved an independently verified 76% lower carbon footprint compared to an equivalent product made from virgin plastic. This breakthrough represents a major step forward in the heavy-transport sector's efforts to decarbonise.

The verification was conducted by Toitū Envirocare, a prominent environmental certification body, under the ISO 14067:2018 standard for the carbon footprint of products. According to Rhino Guards, this result validates the company's long-held belief that recycled materials can deliver high performance and durability while drastically reducing emissions.

This achievement is the culmination of nearly five years of dedicated innovation and strategic collaboration with a roster of industry leaders, including Fonterra, TR Group, TWL, Mainfreight, Vision Plastics NZ Ltd, Oriens Capital, The Shine Collective, and Toitū Envirocare itself.

In addition to the PL12063 mudguard, Rhino has also introduced a coloured recycled-blend range that offers a 13% lower carbon footprint, with plans to improve this figure further. The company emphasizes that these developments prove that sustainability and performance are not mutually exclusive and that measurable carbon reduction is attainable across the transport industry. Rhino is positioning itself as a key partner for fleets looking to decarbonise, one guard at a time.
