New Truck Park Planned For Picton

Trucks waiting for ferries may have an alternative to parking on Picton streets if a facility in Waitohi Domain is built. 

Money has been set aside in the Long Term Plan to terminate Port Marlborough’s lease of the domain and use it for parking complete with a new ablutions block.

There has been excellent progress on the turnaround bays being constructed as part of improvements to SH1 between Cambridge and Piarere. With the finishing touches now being applied to the turnarounds at Gorton and Tunakawa Roads, installation of flexible median barrier can begin.

Cambridge/Moffat roads: Construction work to complete the new Cambridge Road Overbridge, between Bethlehem and Tauriko continues. Until early April 2024, there is a full closure of a section of Moffat Road between Tauranga Adventist School and Cambridge Road (East). Bungy Bridge, SH6, rock safety work in the Kawarau Gorge, five weeks single lane after Easter

Five weeks of rock stabilisation work near Queenstown’s Bungy Bridge gets underway early in April, says NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

The highway will be down to a single lane, weekdays only, from Tuesday, 2 April at 9 am through to Tuesday, 7 May. Delays could be up to ten minutes at a time says Peter Standring, Maintenance Contract Manager for NZTA in Central Otago.
