Brynderwyn Hills super weekend closures

Resurfacing works will see State Highway 1 over the Brynderwyn Hills fully close for two 4-day ‘super weekends’ next month, ensuring the route is in peak condition ahead of the busy summer season. 

It’s the final stage of the SH1 Brynderwyn Hills recovery project, and involves applying a full-width asphalt surface, reinstating lane markings and passing lanes, and returning the route to 80km/h, making journeys to and from Northland smoother.

Hino Motors to Launch New Fuel Cell Heavy-Duty Truck next week

The Profia Z FCV has been jointly developed by Toyota Motor Corporation and Hino, based on Hino's heavy-duty truck, the Hino Profia (known as the 700 Series in Australia) and will be released to the Japanese market on 24 October.

The chassis is designed to maximise the operator’s load capacity while accommodating the component layout requirements of a fuel cell vehicle.

JAC beefs up Truck support

JAC has announced the expansion of its brand into new regions with the addition of six new locations. Five of these locations are full Ute dealerships offering sales and servicing, while a service-only location has been added in Wellington.

This expansion coincides with strengthened truck support from Southpac Trucks, JAC's ‘sister’ organisation. Southpac Trucks has been providing servicing support for JAC Trucks nationwide and will now also handle sales in both the North and South Islands.

KiwiRail directors appointed, departing directors thanked

KiwiRail directors Rob Jager and Bruce Wattie will complete their service on 31 October 2025, and two new directors have been appointed from 1 November 2025, Minister for Rail Minister Winston Peters has announced.

“KiwiRail must deliver the goods, so it is pleasing the former acting chair Mr Jager and chair of the risk, audit and assurance committee Mr Wattie finished by signing off on the year-end operating surplus which exceeded their $110 million target,” Mr Peters says.

New Zealand Secures Major Chinese Shipbuilder For New Ferries

The Government, through its procuring company Ferry Holdings Limited has secured Guangzhou Shipyard International as the builder of two new ferries, Rail Minister Winston Peters confirmed.
