Accelerating Northland Expressway

The installation of median barrier on 2 sections of State Highway 2 between Waihī and Ōmokoroa is being re-examined by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

Road freight peak body Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand has joined with Fire and Emergency New Zealand, the Automobile Association, New Zealand Heavy Haulage and the Bus & Coach Association in calling for Wellington City Council to reconsider plans for five raised crossings to be incorporated at signalised crossings along a 1.7km section of Thorndon Quay.

The Maritime Union has sounded a note of caution about the seaworthiness of Interislander ferries.
KiwiRail has today released a summary of a maritime assessment of the three Interislander ferries carried out by DNV, which says the ships are in reasonable condition.
