NZ Post chief executive officer David Walsh says it’s a significant event and one he’s proud of.
“NZ Post was the first company in New Zealand to trial the hydrogen truck which aligns with our approach of testing and adopting new technologies.
“As the truck’s odometer ticked over to 100,000km it added another milestone in our sustainability journey and another step towards our goal of transitioning to net-zero emissions operations by 2050,” Walsh said.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) Board Chair Hon. Simon Bridges and NZTA Chief Executive Nicole Rosie have announced that Ms Rosie will be leaving NZTA at the conclusion of her term in mid-February 2025.
The NZTA Board has thanked Nicole for her dedication and leadership over the past 4.5 years, and acknowledged the personal sacrifice, time and effort that goes with such roles.

Toyota has started testing a new hydrogen-fuelled truck with Coca-Cola as part of the drinks company’s supply operations.
The truck’s fuel cell system uses modules which combine hydrogen and oxygen molecules to produce water, simultaneously generating electricity. As a result, water is the only tailpipe emission. The system offers the further benefit of fast refuelling.

It’s been a big week for getting out into the community to get things done – and getting the community into our offices to get stuff done!
A group of road transport folks gathered around the table to discuss Wellington City Council’s unusual plan to put in six pedestrian crossings in a 1.7km stretch of road. Some crossings appear to be in illogical places given current pedestrian behaviour and five include raised platforms (aka speed tables).

This week has reminded me yet again that no two days are the same in the transport industry.
