Large-scale NZ rebrand under way

It amounts to, Aramex New Zealand CEO Scott Jenyns believes, one of the biggest (if not the biggest) rebranding exercises applied to a Kiwi commercial vehicle fleet.

By the time it’s completed, probably by the end of this year, about 30 linehaul tractor and trailer units and more than 300 courier vans will have been re-liveried….

Changed from the royal blue-based colour scheme worn by the former Fastway Courier’s trucks (with red and white signwriting) – to vivid red tractor units and curtainsider trailers, with white signage.

While the signwriting on the mostly-white courier vans has been switching from blue and red, to red and white (including company logos and red... ... 

Green, green… and green again

For 20 years, Don Wilson drove and ran green trucks for Pukekohe-based fresh produce growers Balle Brothers – helping the company diversify into livestock transport.
Even when the livestock operation was spun-off into a separate company – Balle Brothers Livestock Transport – the trucks stayed in exactly the same laurel green/asparagus green Balle Bros colours.
So when that was replaced by a new company – with a new name, a new ownership structure (with Don holding a half-share) and a new colour scheme, he came up with some very different ideas for the primary colour on the eight-strong fleet….
And still ended up opting for a lighter shade ... ... 

“Compromise” creates classic colours

When three Carter Holt Harvey log truck owner-drivers joined forces back in 1997 to form a company that would become one of the forest owner’s key suppliers, the choice of a colour scheme led to “a good, strong debate.”
The thing is, each of the three founders of Aztec Forestry Transport Developments had different colours! 
Ken Angus, one of the trio, chooses his words carefully: No, he says, the “debate” wasn’t heated – but “yeah, it was ‘character-building.’ ” 
It was actually a two-way discussion – between Angus and Aztec business partner Peter Phillips – with co-founder Steve Seg... ...

It’s the trucking equivalent of wearing your heart on your sleeve – showing your love to the world.
In this case, it’s a matter of Milton transport operator Laurie (Ferg) Ferguson revealing his true feelings for the Highlanders Super Rugby team.
Proudly painting his trucks in the colours of his favourite team just came naturally for Ferg. As he says, when he went out on his own 16 years ago, choosing the livery “wasn’t difficult.”
Just as the Highlanders adopted the colours of the three provincial teams it encompasses – the blue of Otago, gold of North Otago and Southland’s maroon – he simply adopted the blue as the ... ...
