Plenty of attention grabbing new Kenworth K220s have gone on the road over the last couple of years.

The new 6x4 tractor unit for Gundy Transport which started work at ANZAC weekend makes a bold statement in its bright yellow Foodstuffs colours, and also for the level of customisation and attention to detail in the build.

It wasn’t originally visualised as something quite this striking, but Will Gundesen’s passion and Bradley Marsh’s talents were blended to make FAT KW something special.

“It was supposed to be a fleet truck, but it’s ended up like a show truck. It just sort of snowballed as we went along,” says Will.

Matthew Sherlock has been a part of the trucking industry for over 40 years. Growing up, Matt’s family owned a bus company which enabled him to acquire a special HT when he was 17, which he then used to get himself into the trucking game a bit earlier than most.

His first job was driving a 4-wheeler for the Glaxo pharmaceutical company, picking up stuff they needed for the factory and dropping off orders to the freight and courier companies.

At the same time, in 1988, Matt’s love affair with the Mack breed began when he spotted an ASC Flowers R-Model Mack driven by Mark Shields which was dropping off containers at the Glaxo factory where Matthew worked.

Mid-Canterbury-based Quigley Contracting is a family owned and operated company established in April 2003.

Initially starting out with a 3x3 square baler, tractor and other essential equipment, Andrew Quigley also leased tractors and utes from his parents, David and Jill, whose support has been a big part of the company’s success.

After the first season Andrew decided to employ someone to drive the baler so he could then spend more time running the business and focusing on how to best serve the needs of current and prospective clients.

New Zealand’s most successful rally team has updated the rig which transports its rapid cargo around the country.

Hayden Paddon’s new hauler is a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia 116 which tows the Paddon Racing Group (PRG) transporter and mobile workshop to major motorsport events.

And as you’d expect from a team that puts maximum effort into the presentation of its Hyundai competition cars, the Freightliner and dual axle semi-trailer also get some sharp treatment as well – making sure they stand out on the highway, at a rally service park, or taking a break at a Z Energy Truck Stop.

Hayden upgraded to the Cascadia last year after using a 2012 Freightliner Argosy since 2020.
