Downturn causes STL Linehaul liquidation

STL Linehaul 2023 Ltd, a long-standing trucking firm based in Christchurch, has gone into liquidation, leaving creditors owed over $1.7 million.
The decision to place the company into liquidation was made on May 1, following a resolution by its shareholders. The task of overseeing the liquidation process has been entrusted to the licensed insolvency practitioners Brenton Hunt of Insolvency Matters, along with Steven Khov and Kieran Jones of Khov Jones, who have since been appointed as the company's liquidators.

Good progress for NZ Infrastructure report says

The New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga, has published a monitoring report looking at progress against New Zealand’s first Infrastructure Strategy.

Before I get to discussing the economic downturn, this week has seen some positive historic events for our organisation. On Wednesday, following a lot of work from our members and directors, our two North Island regional associations unanimously approved the adoption of our new constitution. Our two South Island associations will hold similar meetings in the coming weeks.

Recently at least two transport operators have hit the headlines for the all the wrong reasons. Failing to look after their people, both fell foul of the Employment Authority and had to pay the price, literally. One operator was ordered to pay an employee $55,000 on wages arears, holiday pay and Kiwisaver entitlements. That business unfortunately went into liquidation as a result.

Hamilton’s New Improved Framework For The Approval Of Transport Projects

Hamilton City Council has agreed on an improved process for transport projects, following direction from Mayor Paula Southgate, and Deputy Mayor and Chair of Transport, Angela O’Leary.
The new process, approved by the Infrastructure and Transport Committee on 2 May, was prompted by strong feedback from the community, and will involve a more rigorous analysis of the rationale for transport projects.

Mayor Wayne Brown has announced a new plan, backed by Port of Auckland and the unions, to make the most of Tāmaki Makaurau’s port and prime waterfront.
“Port of Auckland has agreed to deliver much improved profits to Auckland Council. And, we have agreed to take the proposed sale of a long-term port lease off the table,” says Mayor Brown.
