Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand has joined with a coalition of motor industry organisations calling for an industry-owned and led training organisation for the automotive and motoring sector which can better prepare graduates for rapid technological change through work-based learning.
Dom Kalasih, Interim Chief Executive of Transporting New Zealand, says the organisation fully supports the Motor Trade Association's call for MITO to be transitioned into an industry-led, industry-owned entity.

At IAA Transportation in Hanover, Scania showcases its versatile range of electrified and biofuel heavy trucks, including a brand-new battery electric tractor. Scania’s electric vehicle range now encompasses vehicles for nearly all applications, also featuring timber trucks.

I‘m pleased to start off with a bouquet to Road Science and its technical manager Darcy Rogers.
This week NBR ran a story “Crumbling roads: the bitumen problem bites”. One of the issues Mr. Rogers points out is that New Zealand is a small player when it comes to importing bitumen, accounting for about 0.16 percent of global demand. Scania has sold 50 heavy trucks to Hall’s Group in one year – a record volume of sales to a single customer in Scania NZ’s five-year history.
The 20 Scania G560 Supers – 8x4 Trailer Tractor units, delivered last week to Hall’s, come within 12 months of Hall’s also buying 30 V8’s from Scania.
Scania NZ managing director, Victor Carvalho, says the scale of these successful consignments to Hall’s Group is testament to the customer-first mindset and strategy that Scania NZ has focused on in recent years.
