Fast-track The Roads Of National Significance

Road freight peak body Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand is urging the Government to put the Roads of National Significance (RONs) at the centre of the Fast-track Approvals Bill.
The Bill, currently at select committee stage, would provide a one-stop-shop consenting process for major development projects, while the Government carries on with other resource management reforms.

The new two-lane bridge on State Highway 43 east of Stratford has now been officially blessed by Iwi and is expected to be open to traffic by the end of next week, weather dependent.
Construction on the new bridge began in June last year and the project is part of the wider SH43 improvements project which includes current sealing work through Tāngarakau Gorge.
The project also includes new signage and side barriers on other parts of the iconic highway.

The new NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) App is a secure ‘one stop shop’ to provide the services drivers need, Transport Minister Simeon Brown and Digitising Government Minister Judith Collins say.
“The NZTA App will enable an easier way for Kiwis to pay for Vehicle Registration and Road User Charges (RUC). It will also display expiry dates for cars’ Warrants of Fitness, Vehicle Registrations and RUC end distance,” Mr Brown says.

Strong sales, all-time high earnings, and growing market shares due to the successful roll-out of Scania Super.
Scania Group net sales grew by 20 percent to SEK 55.1 billion (45.8) and Vehicle deliveries increased by 17 percent to 26,496 vehicles, whereof Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) amounted to 47 units.
Order intake increased by 7 percent to 20,171 vehicles, whereof Zero Emission Vehicles amounted to 133 units.

People who travel south of Christchurch at night and overnight will need to build in some extra time with delays at the Selwyn River/ Waikirikiri Bridge from early May until the end of July.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA), as part of its regular bridge maintenance, will be jacking bridge beams and repairing some joints/bearings from Monday night, 7 May through to 30 July. Deck joints and concrete will be repaired at the same time.
