Transporting New Zealand Calls On Everyone To Be A Road Safety Hero

Transporting New Zealand is backing Road Safety Week (4-10 May), coordinated by the road safety charity Brake with sponsorship from NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and Beca. The theme of the week is Be a Road Safety Hero.

New Zealand continues to experience a price shock but not a supply shock. 

There has been some good news recently as over the last weeks diesel prices have dropped below $3, after being near $4 a litre. The Government has secured an additional nine days’ of diesel supply to boost New Zealand’s fuel reserves and help shield the country from the global oil shock, Finance Minister Nicola Willis and Associate Energy Minister Shane Jones say.

Freight access protected during critical Tiniroto Road repairs

Transporting New Zealand says improved access arrangements for urgent Tiniroto Road repairs are a positive step after initial closure plans threatened major disruption to freight and the local community.

Membership Manager, Lindsay Calvi-Freeman says getting work underway ahead of winter is important given the poor condition of the road. 

“We strongly support this work getting done. Tiniroto Road has been in a very poor state and repairs are critical for safety, resilience, and keeping freight moving.”

Freight productivity measures will support jobs and economic growth

Transporting New Zealand has welcomed the Government developing options to remove regulatory barriers to improve freight productivity and minimise diesel use, saying that urgent action is required to keep the economy moving and protect jobs.
