Iveco has begun the roll-out of new generation heavy-duty product with its S-Way models launched in Auckland recently.

The event at Iveco New Zealand headquarters in Wiri was attended by Iveco Australia New Zealand managing director Michael May, who says the new models represent an aligning with European model choices following the decision to close the Dandenong assembly plant near Melbourne.

Brisbane is back on the destination list for New Zealanders with an interest in new trucks, classics and heavy machinery.

The biennial Brisbane Truck Show went ahead in 2021 but Covid travel restrictions made it a difficult trip for Kiwi enthusiasts. In 2023 the event  returns to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, running from Thursday 18 May to Sunday 21 May.

The Brisbane show is recognised among the world’s leading industry business events. It is owned and run by national industry association, Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA), who have produced the Brisbane Truck Show, on behalf of members and the broader industry, for over 50 years.

Although he posted only a single race win, defending national champion Alex Little built on his series lead in round two of the NAPA Auto Parts New Zealand Super Truck Championship.

The Aoraki Trust Thunder Down Under meeting at Timaru’s Levels Raceway over the January 28-29 weekend saw 11 trucks in action.

Fuso remains at the top of the New Zealand truck market, recording another strong increase in sales during 2022.

Building on its 2021 sales performance when Fuso ended Isuzu’s run as the top-selling brand for 21 years, the 2023 highlights for Fuso included a large increase in sales of its Shogun heavy duty truck model.

Fuso posted 1249 sales across the 3.5-tonne and above segments last year to achieve a 20.7% market share, up from 1020 registrations and 19.7% share in 2021.

DAF has achieved back-to-back wins in the International Truck of Year award.

The new DAF XD series was revealed as the 2023 International Truck of the Year  during the IAA Transportation press day in Hanover, Germany.

The success follows the 2022 win by DAF’s new generation heavy-duty XF and XG models. The award is decided by a jury of 24 commercial vehicle editors and senior journalists representing 24 major trucking magazines throughout Europe.
