Upcoming 2-week full closure of Drury southbound on-ramp
Posted: 10-Sep-2026 |
The southbound on-ramp at Drury Interchange will be fully closed 24/7 for 2 weeks as part of the State Highway 1 (SH1) Papakura to Drury project, from 9pm Sunday 13 September until Monday 28 September.
This full closure of the Drury southbound on-ramp is required to install a new stormwater main under the on-ramp in close proximity to Great South Road.
For southbound motorists who would normally enter SH1 southbound at Drury, there are two alternatives suggested during this on-ramp closure:
Motorists can either plan ahead and travel northwards to Papakura Interchange to enter SH1 southbound there, or detour southwards to Ramarama Interchange via State Highway 22 (SH22), Great South Road and Ararimu Road to enter SH1 southbound using the Ramarama southbound on-ramp (see attached detour map).
The new stormwater main is one of many significant utility upgrades being delivered as part of the SH1 Papakura to Drury project. It will be integral to the 100% treatment of stormwater run-off from the motorway as part of this second and final stage of the project. The full project is expected to be completed in late 2030.
