Scania Unveils ProDriver: A Digital Revolution in Driver Development
Posted: 26-Sep-2024 |

In a groundbreaking move aimed at transforming professional driver training, Scania has launched ProDriver, a fully digital coaching service designed to enhance driver performance and fuel efficiency. The innovative service is tailored for both long-haul and regional drivers, promising up to a 5% improvement in fuel savings through gamified learning experiences.

“At Scania, we believe that empowering drivers with knowledge is key to improving their performance,” said Andrea Wetterberg, Head of Services Portfolio at Scania. “ProDriver not only helps reduce fuel consumption but also supports our customers in achieving their sustainability targets while optimising their Total Cost of Ownership.”

ProDriver, accessible through the Scania Driver app and My Scania platform, offers a user-friendly interface that integrates real-time driving data. This data-driven approach focuses on essential driving parameters, such as idling, anticipation, and coasting, allowing drivers to adopt more sustainable habits effortlessly. By turning insights into actionable habits, ProDriver essentially gamifies the learning process, providing a refreshing alternative to traditional training methods.

The service builds on Scania's long-standing commitment to driver support, supplementing their popular Driver Evaluation service. ProDriver not only aids in behavior modification but also motivates drivers to embrace their roles in enhancing fuel efficiency. “It’s great that we now have a digital service focused on drivers,” Wetterberg added. “They are the ones who have a direct impact on how well our combustion engine trucks perform on the roads.”

ProDriver offers a variety of learning materials, including concise texts, engaging videos, and audio lessons. Moreover, the platform features interactive quests that allow drivers to practice what they’ve learned while receiving rewards to maintain their motivation. Fleet managers will also benefit from insightful analytics that track driver engagement and progress, ensuring a well-rounded approach to professional development.

Scania plans to integrate ProDriver with all-new combustion engine trucks set to launch in 2025. The service will also be available for existing Scania trucks, making it an inclusive addition to their product offerings. Wetterberg emphasised, “ProDriver is not a replacement for regular driver training; it's a significant enhancement that provides professional drivers with expanded opportunities for growth.”

As part of Scania's premium digital offerings, ProDriver represents an industry-first initiative, paving the way for a more sustainable transport system. With the combination of advanced digital tools and a clear focus on driver empowerment, Scania is setting new standards in the transport business, promising not only reduced emissions and operational costs but also a fun and engaging platform for driver development.

In light of this innovative launch, Scania is positioning itself as a leader in the transition towards smarter, more sustainable transport solutions, ultimately benefiting both drivers and the environment.
