South Island, New Zealand - An initiative to enhance road safety is underway with a series of rollover prevention courses available to all heavy vehicle drivers across the South Island. These courses are organised in association with NZI, Icon Logistics, the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), and Transporting New Zealand.

The training sessions are scheduled for November 12, 13, and 14, 2024, in Dunedin, Balclutha, and Invercargill, respectively. Led by Hamish Piercy, a Fleet Risk Manager at NZI, these courses aim to equip drivers with the essential skills and knowledge to prevent vehicle rollovers, a critical concern for heavy vehicle operators.

Course Details:

Dunedin: The first session will be held on November 12 at the Logan Point Suite, Forsyth Barr Stadium, hosted by Icon Logistics. Positions are available from 8:30 am to 12 pm, and from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm, with Icon Logistics generously sponsoring morning and afternoon tea. There are 30 spots available for drivers.

Balclutha: On November 13, drivers can attend sessions at Balclutha St Johns, located at 5-7 High St. Like in Dunedin, two sessions will run from 8:30 am to 12 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. This venue also has 30 spots open.

Invercargill: The final sessions will take place at the HWR Driver Training facility, 84 Otepuni Ave, on November 14. With 40 available places, drivers can choose from the same time slots of 8:30 am – 12 pm and 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm. The training will be held at the 'Dig This' premises.

Registrations can be submitted by sending the attendees' names to info@transporting.nz. Interested drivers are urged to register by 3pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2024, to secure their spot due to limited availability.

These courses represent a vital opportunity for heavy vehicle drivers to improve their safety credentials and contribute to a safer driving environment across New Zealand. With no membership required to attend, the initiative invites all eligible drivers to participate and take advantage of this significant training opportunity.
