Review of Auckland's traffic related bylaws underway
Posted: 07-Nov-2024 |

Consultation has opened on Auckland Transport and Auckland Council's proposal to consolidate, clarify and simplify Auckland's traffic-related bylaws.

It is proposed to consolidate existing multiple traffic-related bylaws into a single Vehicle Use and Parking Bylaw.

The most significant impact for members is likely to be adding the tools available under the Land Transport Act 1988 regarding heavy vehicle use and parking to the bylaw.

This includes the ability to restrict heavy vehicles from parking in areas where they are causing problems for the community (e.g. where they are blocking visibility).

You can read about the proposed changes in detail in the Statement of Proposal, or read a two page overview here.

HAVE YOUR SAY NOW - You can talk to the Auckland Transport team at one of the four drop-in sessions around the region or log in to the online session 26 November, 5:30-6:30pm.

National Road Carriers strongly suggests you participate in providing your feedback directly to Auckland Transport as it will be the number of submissions that determine the outcome.
