Leading temperature-controlled transport specialist Refrigafreighters Ltd has expanded into the Waikato with its first regional depot at the Ruakura Superhub. The 1,000sqm facility includes fridge and freezer storage, office space, and truck docks, supporting the company’s growing North Island network.

The depot, developed in partnership with Tainui Group Holdings (TGH), reflects the growing importance of the golden triangle, Auckland, Hamilton, and Tauranga, as New Zealand’s primary economic engine.

Refrigafreighters CEO Michael Roberts said the depot’s central location, near the Waikato Expressway and inland port, will enhance logistics efficiency and help meet increasing demand for food and food processing in the region. "Our investment at Ruakura solidifies our North Island network and enables us to deliver high-quality service to our customers," Roberts said.

With over 190 temperature-controlled vehicles already operating nationwide, Refrigafreighters serves some of New Zealand’s leading food companies. The Waikato facility will launch with an initial fleet of seven trucks, providing room to expand as population growth drives greater demand in the golden triangle.

In their social post, Refrigafreighters say they’re thrilled to expand their services and better serve their clients across the region. ‘A huge thank you to our incredible team for making this happen. Here's to a new chapter in Hamilton!’
