Penske Australia & New Zealand has announced the appointment of Kevin Smith as the new general manager for its New Zealand operations, effective immediately. Smith brings with him a wealth of experience in the transport industry, poised to lead Penske's diverse operations across sectors such as energy solutions, mining, commercial vehicles, defence, marine, and rail. 

Kevin Smith expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “It’s exciting to join an organisation that is passionate about its customers and its services.” He highlighted Penske's recent investments in New Zealand, which include state-of-the-art facilities in Christchurch and Tauranga, complementing the existing branch in Auckland. Smith praised the company's innovative products and engaged team, emphasising these elements are crucial to building a successful business focused on delivering outstanding customer outcomes. 

Hamish Christie-Johnston, managing director of Penske Australia & New Zealand, welcomed Smith to the team noting, “It’s wonderful to have Kevin join the Penske team, given his extensive leadership and transport industry experience.” Christie-Johnston emphasised Smith’s immediate impact, as he meets with staff and key customers across the region to better understand their needs and align them with the overarching ANZ business strategy. 

He also acknowledged the contributions of Brian Wilson, the former general manager of Penske New Zealand, thanking him for his service and wishing him well in his future endeavours.

The transition marks a significant step in Penske’s continued growth in New Zealand, with Smith at the helm to drive further success and cultivate robust customer relationships in the region.
