Overnight closures next month for stretch of SH3, Tariki
Posted: 21-May-2026 |

A stretch of State Highway 3 between Johns Road and Surrey Road will close for two nights next month for asphalt patch repairs.

The road will be closed between 7pm and 5am on Saturday (6 June) and Sunday (7 June). The work is expected to be finished and the road reopened by 5am Monday 8 June.

The work will see patches of damaged pavement repaired to maintain the road before crews can return next summer to undertake drainage improvements and rebuild the road.

This work needs to be done while it’s dry.

The closures are taking place at night during the weekend when traffic volumes are lowest, to minimise disruption to road users.

The road will be open during the daytime (5am-7pm) and a temporary speed limit will remain in place for the safety of road users, until the work is complete.

Road users are asked to plan ahead and take alternative routes where possible. The alternative state highway route is State Highway 45.

Should the weather be unfavourable for next month’s work, it’ll be rescheduled to take place on 13 and 14 June.
