A stretch of State Highway 2 Hawke’s Bay Expressway will be closed overnight this Sunday (27 July) for routine maintenance.

The road will be closed between the Prebensen Drive and Taradale Road roundabouts from 8pm until 5am.

A detour, suitable for all vehicles, will be in place. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto Taradale Road, Hyderabad Road and Prebensen Drive. The reverse will apply for southbound traffic.

The detour is expected to add up to 10 minutes to journey times.

Crews will carry out a raft of maintenance during the closure, which is part of the previously signalled monthly maintenance schedule:

No October closure at this stage

7 December

While these dates are confirmed, the stretch of expressway closed on any date may change at short notice depending on the maintenance priorities at the time.

The dates are also weather dependent and if postponed, the following Sunday will be used as the contingency date.
