Night works are planned for the on and off-ramps at Johnsonville at the end of the month

Contractors will complete fibre cable duct repairs on the southbound off-ramp and repair the road surface on the northbound on-ramp This is critical state highway maintenance and essential for keeping these well-used state highway ramps safe and reliable for drivers.

The work will require two separate night closures. These will allow the work to be completed much faster and are deliberately scheduled at night to minimise inconvenience and delays for drivers.

The closures are scheduled, weather permitting, for the nights of Monday, 25 August, and Sunday, 31 August.

Detours will be required for drivers needing to get in and out of Johnsonville. They will require extra travel time, and drivers should plan their trips accordingly.

Works Schedule and Detour Routes

Monday, 25 August, 9 pm – 4 am: SH1 Johnsonville southbound off-ramp closed for fibre cable duct repairs. Drivers should detour by continuing southbound to Ngauranga, follow signs to SH2/Hutt Valley/Picton Ferry, use right turn lane to return back onto SH1 northbound, and then take northbound off-ramp into Johnsonville.

Sunday, 31 August, 9 pm – 4 am: SH1 Johnsonville northbound on-ramp closed for road repairs and resurfacing patches. Drivers should detour via Moorefield Road, Middleton Road, Westchester Drive, and then access SH1 via the Glenside/Churton Park on-ramp.
