Road users and residents need to be ready for night works and road closures as road crews carry out maintenance work on State Highway 58, Paremata Road later this month.

One week of night closures are planned for the highway from Sunday, 22 March to Thursday 26 March. Closures will run between 9 pm and 4.30 am every night.

The closures will be staged over different sections of the highway during the week:

Paremata to Postgate Drive – Sunday, 22 March

Postgate Drive to James Cook Drive – Monday, 23 and Tuesday, 24 March

James Cook Drive to Joseph Banks Drive – Wednesday, 25 March and Thursday, 26 March

Road crews will be clearing drains and channels to reduce the risk of surface flooding, replacing road signs, as well as trimming vegetation and trees overhanging the highway. 

Traffic management will be set up from 8 pm and drivers can expect travel delays while this is underway.

Local road detours will be available for all traffic. Resident access will be maintained during the closures

NZTA/Waka Kotahi and the Wellington Transport Alliance understand these works are disruptive and that detours do add to travel times. However, regular maintenance like this is critical for keeping an important state highway route resilient and reliable for the public.

Road users and residents are urged to plan ahead for these works. Please allow extra time for your journeys while the closures and detours are in place.

These works may be affected by bad weather and schedules may change at short notice. Divers are encouraged to check road conditions before they travel.
