MOVE Logistics Group Appoints Interim CEO as It Prepares for Annual Results Announcement

MOVE Logistics Group Limited has announced the appointment of Paul Millward as its interim Chief Executive Officer, effective from 4 September 2024. The move comes as the transport and logistics company seeks to navigate a challenging economic landscape and enhance its operational efficiency.

Paul Millward brings a wealth of experience to the role, having most recently served as the CEO of 2 Cheap Cars, where he led the company to become the top performer on the NZX in 2023. His extensive background in sales leadership and executive roles across various sectors, both in New Zealand and internationally, positions him well to drive strategic change at MOVE. Millward is recognized for his ability to forge strong customer partnerships and cultivate high-performing teams.

Julia Raue, the Chair of MOVE, expressed optimism about Millward's appointment, stating, “We are pleased to be welcoming Paul to the MOVE team. He has an impressive track record of delivering results, and his leadership and passion for talent will be invaluable as we reshape and streamline the business. Our goal is to adapt to current market conditions and ensure MOVE is more efficient and equipped for the future. Paul will provide strong leadership as we accelerate our turnaround plans during this period of disappointing financial performance.”

The Board anticipates a collaborative effort with Millward and the leadership team to enhance the Group’s financial outlook and deliver shareholder value, all while maintaining a commitment to excellent service for customers.

To facilitate a smooth transition, the current CEO, Craig Evans, will remain available to support Millward and the organisation during the initial stages of this leadership shift. Raue acknowledged Evans' contributions as CEO and highlighted the ongoing support he will provide.

“Recruitment of a permanent CEO has been paused while the turnaround program is underway,” Raue noted.

In addition to the leadership changes, MOVE Logistics Group announced that it will release its financial results for the year ending 30 June 2024 (FY24) on 29 August 2024. The results will provide insight into the company’s performance amid the recent challenges faced in the logistics sector.
