As an official partner of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) 2025, IVECO is supporting the decarbonisation goals of the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA) with the world’s first fully electric “ePaceTruck”.
For the first time in the history of the championship, a battery-electric truck will lead the grid: the IVECO S-eWay Pace Truck will serve as the official pace truck for the ETRC 2025. It will debut at the season opener in Misano, Italy, on May 17-18, joining the IVECO S-Way LNG pace truck, already in use in the last two seasons.
With a range of up to 500 kilometers, the vehicle is capable of reaching each race venue autonomously without requiring intermediate charging. It is powered by nine 82 kWh battery packs, for a total capacity of 738 kWh, and can be recharged to 80% in just 90 minutes thanks to its fast-charging capacity of up to 350 kW.
The 4x2 tractor features a twin-motor electric axle developed by FPT Industrial - IVECO’s sister brand specialized in powertrain innovation - delivering 480 kW of continuous power and 1,800 Nm of torque.
A distinctive exterior, featuring a bold livery, two light bars, an LED headlight unit, a three-part illuminated front protection bar and multiple LED flashers, ensures full compliance with ETRA technical regulations while delivering maximum visual impact on the grid.
Alongside the debut of the fully electric ePaceTruck, IVECO continues to highlight its leadership in renewable fuels with the IVECO S-Way LNG pace truck. Powered by bio-LNG, this vehicle can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 95% compared to traditional diesel trucks - showcasing IVECO’s holistic and pragmatic multi-energy strategy for sustainable freight transport.
This dual approach - combining electric mobility and bio-LNG on the racetrack- reiterates IVECO’s readiness to offer real, scalable solutions to reduce emissions across multiple transport applications.
All IVECO race trucks competing in the 2025 ETRC season will run on the latest generation of HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil), a synthetic, renewable fuel that enables significant reductions in emissions while maintaining the high-performance standards expected in top-tier motorsport.
