AMI Insurance is back to raise awareness about driver fatigue with another AMI Driver Reviver event.

The team will have free barista coffees, hot food off the BBQ, and other healthy snacks ready to help travellers recharge, along with some useful tips to manage driver fatigue - a major cause of motor vehicle accidents.

Thursday 28 March between 11am and 4pm - Anyone northbound on SH1 through Uretiti on Thursday 28 March between 11am and 4pm is encouraged to stop in for a complimentary snack or barista made coffee from the AMI BBQ trailer and coffee cart. Drivers and their passengers can visit the team onsite to learn more about how to curb the effects of driver fatigue, particularly on long journeys, while taking a rest on a bean bag.

Thursday 28 March 2024, 4pm – 7pm - If you’re driving through Tarras on SH8 between 4-7pm, stop in at AMI’s Driver Reviver event outside the Tarras School to grab a refreshment and find out how to limit the effects of driver fatigue.

Monday 1 April 2024, 11am – 4pm - If you’re driving past the Hurunui River Rest Area on SH1 between Cheviot and Greta Valley during the hours of 11am – 4pm on Easter Monday, stop in at AMI’s Driver Reviver event to grab a refreshment.

Friday 26 April 2024, 3-7pm - If you’re driving past the Kawatiri Junction on SH6 between Wakefield and Murchison during the hours of 3-7pm, stop in at AMI’s Driver Reviver

The AMI Driver Reviver event is a community collaboration run by AMI’s Community Risk team, in partnership with Northland Road Safety Association, Northland Regional Council and local New Zealand Police, with support from Fulton Hogan and Kiwi Harvest Food Rescue.

AMI Executive General Manager Consumer Brands, Paula ter Brake says, “we have been running these events across the country for three years now and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from drivers who found their interaction with experts about driver fatigue to be very useful.

“In that time, we have encouraged thousands of drivers to take a break, recognise and manage any fatigue and recharge for their journeys ahead.

“We are encouraging everyone to stop in and have a chat about the issue of driver fatigue – at the end of the day every New Zealander wants to get home safely to their whānau.”
