Global telematics giant Geotab has partnered with New Zealand’s EROAD to deliver cost-effective fleet management solutions for businesses in Australia and New Zealand. This strategic collaboration marks a significant enhancement in the resources available to fleet managers in the region, particularly those overseeing light commercial vehicles.

The duo's initial offering, EROAD Locate, is set to revolutionise how fleet operators manage their vehicles. This streamlined telematics solution is slated for launch in both New Zealand and Australia, aiming to provide an easy-to-use, economical tool for efficient vehicle tracking and management.

“Fleet managers across Australia and New Zealand now have an appealing and affordable option for light commercial vehicle fleets, allowing more businesses to access the benefits of telematics. This partnership will continue to deliver fantastic solutions for fleets with complex needs,” stated David Brown, Associate Vice President for Geotab APAC.

The collaboration harnesses the respective strengths of Geotab and EROAD, combining Geotab's affordable hardware with EROAD's sophisticated fleet management platform. This synergy is poised to open new vistas in the light commercial vehicle sector.

Mark Heine, Co-CEO of EROAD, emphasised the significance of the partnership: “We’re always looking for ways to help our customers operate safer, more efficient and sustainable fleets. This partnership with Geotab accelerates our ability to deliver a low-cost, high-quality solution that meets the needs of a wider range of fleets, especially those that have been priced out of telematics solutions in the past.”

With this union, more customers will gain access to enterprise-grade solutions, empowering them to navigate complex transport and regulatory challenges. Geotab’s extensive network—comprising over 4 million connected vehicles worldwide and robust OEM partnerships—will aid EROAD in providing an expanded array of solutions to cater to diverse fleet needs.

The telematics market, growing at an annual rate of 12-16%, presents a substantial opportunity in New Zealand and Australia. Despite a light commercial vehicle fleet size of approximately 800,000 in New Zealand and 4 million in Australia, only 48% currently employ telematics, highlighting the potential for growth.

This partnership between Geotab and EROAD is set to drive innovation and growth in the fleet management sector, delivering enhanced value to customers and strengthening their presence across the region.
