Craig Cubitt has been announced as the new CEO of Daimler Truck Australia Pacific, effective from November 1. The announcement was made by Torsten Schmidt, Daimler Truck ISEAA CEO, at Daimler Truck Australia Pacific headquarters in Mulgrave, Victoria.

Mr Cubitt has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Daimler Truck Financial Services Australia since 2021.

He brings more than 21 years of experience across the Daimler Truck and Mercedes-Benz group, having held senior leadership roles throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong, including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Managing Director positions. His experience spans financial services, commercial operations, business strategy and executive leadership.

Mr Schmidt says Mr Cubitt was an outstanding candidate and is confident he will further leverage the strengths of the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner trucks and services in Australia and New Zealand.

“I am confident Craig will deliver for our customers and our dealers with his people-first leadership style that focuses on solutions,” he says.

“During his time at DTFS, Craig successfully led the business through a period of growth and transformation while maintaining a strong focus on customers, partners, dealers, and staff. I am excited to see what the Daimler Truck Australia Pacific team can achieve with Craig’s leadership.”

Mr Schmidt thanked outgoing Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, for his service. “Daniel has overseen remarkable growth for the Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Fuso brands locally since 2014, and has helped build a solid foundation for Daimler Truck’s ongoing success,” Mr Schmidt says.

“Under his stewardship, our brands are known across Australia and New Zealand as leaders for safety, efficiency and sustainability; and we would like to wish him the best for his future endeavours” Mr Schmidt adds.

Daimler Truck Australia Pacific sells and supports Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Freightliner trucks in both the Australian and New Zealand markets. Key models include the just-introduced Mercedes-Benz Actros ProCabin, which has just been announced as the Australasian Truck of the Year, and the Freightliner Cascadia.
