AutoSense has appointed Steve Fielding as Chief Revenue Officer, strengthening its leadership team as the fleet safety provider deepens its work with New Zealand customers and expands its presence in Australia.

Fielding joins AutoSense following more than two decades of experience spanning transport operations, fleet technology, SaaS and commercial leadership. Most recently, he served as Executive General Manager at New Zealand logistics business Netlogix, with responsibility across its $110 million revenue business, including transport operations, customer service and commercial performance.

Prior to Netlogix, Fielding spent almost five years as Head of Growth and Retention (ANZ) at transport technology company EROAD, where he led a large sales and customer growth team across the transport, fleet, construction and government sectors. During his tenure, he played a central role in scaling the business, which grew to support a customer base of more than 6,000 organisations.

In his new role, Fielding will lead AutoSense’s commercial and growth strategy across New Zealand and Australia, with an immediate focus on strengthening relationships with existing New Zealand customers, ensuring they can access the full breadth of AutoSense’s driver safety offering.

Speaking on his appointment, Fielding said, “I’m most looking forward to the opportunity to help scale a business that already has a strong reputation, great people, and genuinely differentiated capability.

“AutoSense sits at an interesting intersection of technology, fleet safety, and risk management, and I think there is a significant opportunity to bring those elements together in a way that creates measurable value for customers.”

AutoSense CEO Charles Dawson, said Fielding’s combination of commercial, technology and frontline transport experience will be valuable as AutoSense builds on its long-standing New Zealand customer relationships while growing its Australian business.

“Our New Zealand customers remain at the heart of AutoSense. As our offering has evolved, we’re able to support them across much more of their driver safety journey - from in-vehicle technology, telematics and data insights through to safe driving policy advisory, fatigue education and specialist fatigue and sleep services,” Dawson said.

“Steve’s focus will be on spending time with our customers, understanding where we can add greater value and making sure they’re getting the best of AutoSense’s capability, while also helping us take that proven approach into the Australian market.”

AutoSense’s expanding offering reflects a broader shift in fleet safety from identifying risk to helping organisations act on it. In New Zealand, the company works with fleets across freight and logistics, utilities, infrastructure and field services, combining driver monitoring technology with operational insight and safe driving advice.

Fielding said the appointment comes at a time when transport operators are under increasing pressure to balance safety and compliance requirements with challenging commercial conditions.

“Operators are dealing with rising costs, tighter margins, driver shortages and growing expectations around safety. At the same time, they are surrounded by more technology and data than ever before.

“The real opportunity is turning that technology and data into practical action that improves safety, productivity and ultimately the economics of running a fleet.”
