August Issue of NZ Truck & Driver out next week
Posted: 25-Jul-2024 |
The August `24 issue of New Zealand Truck & Driver is now on sale with the cover and Giti Tyres Big Test putting sunny Marlborough in the spotlight with a visit to Gill Construction.
The Gill’s fleet includes a mix of brands but has a long-term association with Isuzu, which is extended by the recent introduction of a new Giga Series CYZ 460 tipper unit. We test the manual transmission 6x4 on a typical day of Blenheim work.
We also take a trip into the Nelson region forests to tell the story of Borlase Transport in Teletrac Navman Fleet Focus. Duncan Borlase began his involvement in the region’s forestry industry as a teenager operating a small wheel loader in 1977 and has built the family company into a fleet of 41 trucks.
There’s a focus on preserving the past in the August issue as we report on a Porter Haulage restoration project that puts a Peterbilt 357 back into work. And the Southpac Trucks Legends series of landmark local Kenworth trucks continues with the story of Graeme and Raelene Skou, who transformed their 1977 Kenworth W924 into an award-winning showstopper.
We also look at the early EV experiences of NZ Post contractor Ramesh Lal with his Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 and visit a popular new truck show held at Mount Maunganui.
Transporting NZ wraps up the happenings from its recent South Island seminar in Twizel and Dom Kalasih looks at speed limit reviews and the causes of road maintenance issues.
The August news section covers the closure of the Australian Hyzon Motors operation and its impact on Kiwi hydrogen fuel cell truck trials and there’s concern in Cambridge about roundabout design. Volvo has announced its updated truck line-up including premium 17-litre models and we report from the Transporting NZ awards night and the latest action in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
National Road Carriers Association CEO Justin Tighe-Umbers introduces the newly elected board guiding the association and the Double Coin Tyres NZ Transport Imaging poster puts the impressive new Sheldrake Haulage Kenworth SAR Legend in the spotlight.
CrediFlex Recently Registered reports on the dip in new truck sales as the year passes the mid-point and there is the monthly gallery featuring the latest new rigs on the road.
