Sime Motors NZ has named Scott Holt as General Manager for Motor Truck Distributors Ltd, New Zealand distributor for Volvo Trucks and Bus and Mack Trucks. 

Scott is an accomplished General Manager with a successful track record in the transport and marine sectors spanning 17 years. He was also the first general manager of another Sime Motors NZ business, TWL / Transpecs when the two businesses merged into a single operating entity while under Gough Group ownership, prior to Sime acquisition in 2019.

“It’s great to be back in heavy transport, working alongside many former colleagues,” says Scott.

“I look to bring to the business a renewed focus on the fundamentals that have made these brands what they already are in NZ, and we will be focusing on forging even closer partnerships than already exist with key transport market leaders and small fleets alike.

“Volvo and Mack have a very strong product offering, which we continue to utilise and develop, to ensure that our customers have the very best end to end experience possible, right from pre-sales and purchase through to servicing and the full vehicle life cycle.

“It’s not often that the opportunity comes up to be associated with iconic brands like Mack and Volvo and it’s a bonus to be joining a multinational group like Sime Motors, with the scale and scope to operate across the whole transport ecosystem. Over the past weeks, I’ve really enjoyed meeting some of our key customers and getting to know the passionate Volvo and Mack teams.”

Scott recently attended the Wheels at Wanaka event with the Mack team.

“When attending events like Wheels at Wanaka we are reminded of the huge support for both Mack and Volvo from both customers and transport industry fans alike. This event really drove home for me the strength of these two iconic brands in our industry and is one of many great building blocks for future success, as both Mack and Volvo move into the era of exciting new technologies.”
