Volvo Group Australia Factory Operations To Temporarily Shutdown

In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Volvo Group Australia has announced a temporary 4-week shutdown of the Wacol, Queensland manufacturing plant. The closure is set to become effective from 13 April, with work set to resume on 10 May.

President and CEO of Volvo Group Australia, Martin Merrick said of the decision "COVID-19 has made a considerable impact in limiting supply chains around the world and our supply chain is no exception. The decision to idle our factory due to global supply chain disruptions will not only serve to secure our business over the long term, it will also serve to support
the 90 plus suppliers that in turn support our supply chain."

"Volvo Group Australia is committed to supporting a safe, sustainable, efficient and productive transport and manufacturing industry locally. We are committed to customer success and acknowledge the challenges faced by our business partners in these uncertain times."

We do not expect this decision to significantly impact the supply of Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks to the New Zealand market during the shutdown period because of New Zealand's current national lockdown. Clive Jones, MTD Trucks General Manager commented
"the MTD team have been and will remain in contact with affected customers and are committed to working closely to minimise any impacts. Our sales support teams will remain available by phone/email to discuss current and/or future truck requirements."

Upon New Zealand's country shut down on March 25th, shipments of trucks to New Zealand have been suspended to ensure port activity is restricted to essential services however, a number of completed trucks will be shipped immediately on the current lockdown being lifted.

Truck Stops NZ Ltd, the aftersales support network for Mack Trucks and Volvo Truck and Buses, is remaining open to support customers who are considered 'Essential Services' during the current New Zealand wide lock down.
