Hold-en on to Isuzu Trucks
Posted: 18-Feb-2020 |

For those that may have missed the news - The Holden brand will be retired from sales in Australia and New Zealand and local design and engineering operations will wind down by 2021, General Motors (NYSE: GM) announced today. Maven and Holden Financial Services operations will also wind down in Australia.

The loss of such an iconic brand is certainly a blow to the automotive industry, however, as many of you know, Holden NZ are also the distributors for Isuzu trucks in New Zealand too - so where does that leave them?

Well, 'business as usual' says Ed Finn, General Manager – Corporate Affairs.

"We would like to assure you and your readers that the situation for Isuzu Trucks in New Zealand, following the announcement, remains unchanged and is 'business as usual.' It is our intention to continue to honour our obligations under the current Isuzu distribution agreement as we believe the current Isuzu sales and aftersales operations in New Zealand will augment our remaining Holden aftersales network operations."

The full fall out of the demise of the Holden brand remains to be seen, but the future of Isuzu trucks seems to be fine right now.
