Tesla's stock jumped above $1,000 a share for the first time on Wednesday after Chief Executive Elon Musk told his staff it was time to bring the Tesla Semi commercial truck to "volume production."

For those that don't know, according to Tesla, Semi is the safest, most comfortable truck ever. It has four independent motors that provide maximum power and acceleration and require the lowest energy cost per mile.

Acceleration 0-60 mph with (80k lb) is 20 sec, speed up a 5% Grade 60 mph, Mile Range
300 or 500 miles, Powertrain 4 Independent Motors on Rear Axles, Energy Consumption
Less than 2 kWh per mile, expected Fuel Savings $200,000+.

Safest Truck Ever - Enhanced Autopilot helps avoid collisions, a centered driver position provides maximum visibility and control, and a low center of gravity offers rollover protection. Every driver is responsible for remaining alert and active when using Autopilot, and must be prepared to take action at any time.

Lowest Cost of OwnershipElectric energy costs are half those of diesel. With fewer systems to maintain, the Tesla Semi provides $200,000+ in fuel savings and a two-year payback period.

Whether or not the above claims are a true reflection of real world use we assume remains to be seen, but the stock market is definitely on board.
